The British TV-series Spaced followed by zombie marvel Shaun Of The Dead and topped off by buddy cop comedy Hot Fuzz certainly left a lot to expect from director Wright. He was offered multiple scripts after Shaun and Fuzz, but the man decided to take on the fantastical and genuinly fresh subject of comic book hero Scott Pilgrim. The result is an instant cult classic.

Scott Pilgrim (Cera) is a freshly dumped bass player of a small band. He falls for Ramona (Winstead)  at a party and soon the two hit it off, but little does he know what he has to endure in order to win her over, for the league of seven evil exes is coming after him and he must fight and defeat Ramona's past love interests to be with her.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is the most imaginitive fun I've had watching a film in a long time. The love for movies and the love for making movies simply gushes from the screen as Pilgrim sets himself up for yet another battle. Wrights' flashy but still not overly edited style is just what the film needs to stay alive. A more stagnant style would've never worked with this subject matter. Cera has been somewhat fish-out-of-water in some of the films he's done but for Scott Pilgrim his dry, minimalistic expression suits like a fist in the eye. The supporting cast is superb with hilarious small performances from Evans, Bhabha, Routh and especially Whitman as Ramonas's evil ex Roxy Richter. A masterpiece of pure cinematic energy and talent across the board. If not before, Wright is definitely now on my list of people I wanna meet before I kick the bucket. Bra-fucking-vo!!

KITEYTETTYNÄ SINIVALKOISILLE
Scott Pilgrim Vastaan Maailma on visuaalisesti räjähtävä ja kerronnallisesti järisyttävän hauska mestariteos pienen bändin basistista joka ihastuu tyttöön, mutta saadakseen hänet, on kundin ensin taisteltava ja voitettava tämän seitsemän pahaa exää. Kulttisarjakuvaan pohjautuva leffa on noussut hetkessä itsekin kulttiklassikoksi ja syy on ilmiselvä. Filmi on puhdasta elokuvallista energiaa ja rakkautta liikkuvan kuvan mediumia kohtaan. Ohjaajana jo aiemmin Shaun Of The Deadillä ja Hot Fuzzilla leffafriikkien kunnioitukseen itsensä nostanut Wright on suorastaan ylittänyt jälleen itsensä ja mies tuntuu paranevan joka leffan myötä aivan kuten kollegansa Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception). Scott Pilgrim Vastaan Maailma ei missään nimessä ole tosikoille vaan avarakatseisille eloisan seikkailun ystäville.
