Valentine's Day is a massive romantic comedy from the man who directed such genuine classics as Pretty Woman and Frankie & Johnny. Sadly this film reflects more his latter works such as Runaway Bride and The Princess Diaries, films that are made to be cute and friendly and as non-threatening as humanly possible. In other words, boring and at times irritating.

There is no plot in Valentine's Day to sum up. It's a collection of romantic short stories that intertwist on occasion. The film lasts for over two hours and most of that could've easily been trimmed out. So why the running time? The ensamle cast. Sometimes it's a financially nice idea to bring lots and lots of big names together and it mostly works on an event film such as this because people are drawn to celebrities. There's nothing wrong with that, we all get star struck at one time or another. This time the big stars just aren't in a very solid quality film. If you want a great ensamble cast and a very good and touching film to go with their talents, go seek out Love Actually. Again.
