Oh man. I had such high hopes for this film but.. really, they expect me to identify and root for petty thugs as heroes? Scumbags who rob and intimidate people just for kicks? The whole film I was cheering for the fucking aliens. There's one very good aspect to Block and surprisingly it is the low budget execution. They've really had to think outside the box with the effects, especially with the aliens who are pitch black creatures, silhouettes really, with teeth that glow in the dark. Cheap and quite effective. The Brits usually deliver in these genres and Attack The Block could've been one of the greats on the level with, say, Shaun Of The Dead if only it had a little thing called likeable characters instead of bunch of assholes. Oh well.

Attack The Block on scifikauhupätkä josta allekirjoittaneella oli huikeat odotukset. Harmillista onkin että elokuva olisi selkeästi ollut puhdasta parhautta ellei siitä puuttuisi sellainen pieni sivuseikka kuin samaistuttavat ja miellyttävät henkilöhahmot. Lontoon naapurustoon satelee avaruuden verenhimoisia örkkejä ja niitä vastaan taistoon ryhtyy joukko todella epämiellyttäviä nuorisorikollisia, jotka tylsyyttään vain ryöväävät ja terrorisoivat muita ihmisiä. Hiphei. Hurrasin koko leffan önkkimönkkien puolesta. Se mikä leffassa toimii on elokuvantekijöiden luovuus pienen budjetin raameissa. Avaruusmöllit ovat pääasiassa sysimustia olentoja, miltei pelkkiä siluetteja, joilla on pimeässä hohtavat hampaat. Halpaa ja tehokasta. Tässä olisi ollut lupausta Shaun Of The Deadin tasoiseen kulttimaineeseen, mutta saatana kun tekee koko ajan mieli kiskoa pääosia pataan!
